The Certificate in Diversity Leadership is jointly sponsored by the Office of IDEAL and the College of Education. The certificate is open to Temple University students and employees, as well as outside professionals interested in advancing their knowledge and skills in diversity facilitation. The certificate is comprised of four graduate courses.

This certificate is open to Temple students and employees, as well as outside professionals interested in advancing their knowlege and skills in diversity leadership and facilitation.

Admission Requirements

For admissions consideration, applicants should submit:

  • College of Education online application
  • Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited institutions attended
  • Statement of goals which outlines your interest in seeking a certificate with a specific focus on the career to which you aspire; your interests; and your academic and job related experiences that are relevant to the program
  • Two letters of reference should be obtained to provide insight regarding the applicant's academic competence
  • Professional resume

In addition, international applicants should submit:

  • Official document that validates completion and conferral of a degree, diploma, and/or certificate. While not required, applicants are encouraged to submit transcript(s) to the World Education Services (WES) for evaluation
  • Official TOEFL or IELTS exam scores if a non-native speaker of English. A minimum score of 70 TOEFL iBT or 6.5 on IELTS is required for admission
  • Once you have completed your application for admission, your next step is to submit your supporting documents

Program Requirements

Students must complete 12 hours of graduate level instruction, including:

  • Diversity Issues in Higher Education (3 credits)
  • Schools-Community Partnerships in Urban Setting (3 credits)
  • Emotions, Diversity and Democratic Leadership (3 credits)
  • Group Practices for Multicultural Democracies (3 credits)
