Graduate Student Assistant
The Graduate Student Assistant reports directly to the Director of Student Engagement and oversees the Saze Zone Advocate certification program for the the university.
The GSA works to to ensure that all content for the Safe one workshops are current as well as design supplemental workshops/trainings for ongoing certifications.
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shereen is a second year PhD student and instructor in the religion department at Temple University. She earned her bachelors degree in communication from Santa Clara University and her masters in international development from UC Berkeley.
Shereen has experience working with diverse populations, from entrepreneurs in the Occupied West Bank, to juvenile (in)justice system-involved youth in California, to queer young people of color in Philadelphia. She also spent time working on President Obama's My Brother's Keeper Initiative, collaborating with policymakers and local leaders to improve policies that affect boys and men of color.
Shereen's research interests include Islam, race, gender, sexuality, and decolonial studies.
