IDEAL has three categories of student employment offerings ranging from hourly staffing, unpaid internships, and a graduate externship. Students are an integral part of the continued success of providing support services for our office.

GRADUATE EXTERN

The Graduate Externship for Gender & Sexuality Inclusion (GSI) Extern is a graduate level student that oversees the office's LGBTQIA+ programming as well as the supervision of a GSI Intern. This position provides resources to the campus community that allows visibility and awareness for issues of gender and sexuality inclusion. 

Some GSI Extern responsibilities include: 

  1. Directly supervise the GSI Intern
  2. Planning, facilitating and implementing LGBTQIA+ themed programming 
  3. Serve as an advocate and representative for LGBTQIA+ issues 
  4. Serve as an active member and coordinator for the National Coming Out Week Planning Committee

GENDER & SEXUALITY INCLUSION INTERN

The Graduate Externship for Gender & Sexuality Inclusion (GSI) Intern is an undergraduate level student that oversees assist the Graduate Extern with planning LGBTQIA+ programming. The successful candidate for this role can count this as internship with Temple University upon submission of documents to have approved by a school or college. 

Some GSI Intern responsibilities include: 

  1. Meet regularly with the Extern to discuss programming
  2. Assist in the overall planning, facilitating and implementing LGBTQIA+ themed programming 
  3. Assist in benchamarking peer institutions LGBTQIA+ programming
  4. Serve as an active member and coordinator for the National Coming Out Week Planning Committee

GRADUATE SAFE ZONE COORDINATOR

The Graduate Safe Zone Coordinator is a graduate level hourly student position that oversees the office's LGBTQIA+ educational programming. The focus of this position will be direct oversight of the Safe Zone I and Safe Zone II certification curriculum. 

Some Graduate Safe Zone Coordinator responsibilities include: 

  1. Directly supervise the Safe Zone Intern
  2. Planning, facilitating and implementing Safe Zone I and Safe Zone II trainings for students, staff, and faculty
  3. Train and meet regularly with Safe Zone Facilitators 
  4. Establish and coordinate meeting with a Safe Zone Advisory committee

OFFICE ASSISTANT (OAs)

Institutional DIversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership Office Assistants report directly to the Administrative Specialist. OAs main focus on the administrative needs of the office for completion of daily operations. 

Some OAs responsibilities include: 

  1. Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, filing documents, running campus errands
  2. Confirm reservations and check office emails on a daily basis
  3. Assist in setting up spaces for events, workshops, and activities

SOCIAL MARKETING INTERN 

The Social Media Intern is an undergraduate or graduate student that oversees the office's social media and marketing. The successful candidate for this role can count this as internship with Temple University upon submission of documents to have approved by a school or college. 

Some Social Media Intern responsibilities include: 

  1. Create monthly content calendars for social media posts to all social media accounts
  2. Schedule and post content to all social media accounts on a timely basis
  3. Review website content and provide suggestion for office give away items
