Purpose

Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership will be providing several of our services virtually in response to COVID-19.  Here you will find the services and programs that each unit will continue to offer:

Office Hours and General Information

Our virtual hours will be from 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday. These times do not include times for presentations/workshops have been approved.

Temple University fosters an Inclusive Community

During times of crisis, it is important for us to remember the central value of being a diverse and inclusive community. Furthermore, we should be conscious of language that promotes xenophobia and racism.

Discriminatory and biased behavior does not align with our university standards and we, students, staff and faculty, should hold each other accountable to the values we share.

Student Engagement

As the university has shifted to an online or alternative learning approach for students during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the following decisions:

  • All Owl Talk & Tacos and Queer Lunches have been postponed until Fall 2020
  • Cultural Unity Week has been postponed until Spring 2021
  • Recording for the IDEAListic Podcast has been postponed until Fall 2020
  • Rite of Passage Ceremony and Lavender Graduation has been postponed, but we are thinking of an innovative method to honor folx
  • Diversity Consultations will continue to happen virtually
  • Any student advocacy needed will continue to occur virtually
  • Our social media accounts will continue to engage various topical area
  • Presentations and workshops can still be requested by visiting WORKSHOP REQUEST
  • Workshop topics include (but not limited to):

  • Microaggressions
  • Implicit Bias
  • Confronting Ethnic/Racial Intimidation
  • Xenophobia
  • Social Identity (Disability, Gender Identity, Race, Ethnicity, Religion, Socioeconomic Status, etc…)

Gender and Sexuality Inclusion

Resources, advocacy and guidance regarding LGBTQIA+ resources will continue to be provided in a virtual manner. The following continuity plan is in place:

  • LGBTQIA+ focused presentations and workshops can still be requested by visiting WORKSHOP REQUEST
  • Safe Zone Training for Faculty and Staff will be held virtually
  • Safe Zone Student retreat scheduled for April 4 will be held virtually
  • Consultations will continue to happen virtually
  • Any student advocacy needed will continue to occur virtually

Faculty and Staff Engagement

As faculty and staff continue to engage to engage the campus in a remote manner, we have made the following decisions:

  • Diversity Consultations will continue to happen virtually

Business and Community Engagement

Our office will continue to work remotely to provide resources and guidance to small and diverse businesses who wish to do business with Temple University through Business Procurement and Supplier Diversity.
