The Gender and Sexuality Inclusion Graduate Externship for Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) supervises 2-3 interns and is responsible for the overall programming on topics supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA+) community.

This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing projects from beginning to end to increase the visibility and support of the LGBTQIA+ community utilizing techniques of intersectionality. The ideal incumbent for this role will have an understanding of diversity and equity as well as how these intertwine with the LGBTQIA+ community.

A. Supervision of student Intern

• Supervise the student interns - including hiring, training, workloads, 1:1 meetings, schedules, and deadlines.

B. Program Engagement

• Complete assigned tasks with project management systems

• Assign tasks to student interns

• Manage and facilitate any requests for LGBTQIA+ presentations and/or workshops
• Monitor project process from intern
• Review and ensure that all marketing is inclusive towards areas of gender and sexuality
• Ensure website LGBTQIA+ content is consistently up to date
• Compile semesterly and annual reports on all programs and trainings completed.

C. Program Logistics Management

• Effectively track all numbers of attendance for program/dialogues hosted

• Track all fiscal components and manage the overall budget for Gender and Sexuality Inclusion
• Organize and collect assessment for all workshops, presentations, and programs
• Keep accurate inventory of all supplies needed for programming
• Submit all programming requests via the project management system

D. Program Development

• Utilize best practices to recommend and create innovative programming opportunities

• Serve in a leadership capacity with the National Coming Out Committee (NCOW)
• Effectively plan the annual Lavender Graduation ceremony
• Plan the OuTU event, held during welcome week on an annual basis
• Research and speakers that focuses on issues of gender and sexuality inclusion
• Develop presentations and ensure all trends utilized by IDEAL are up to date

E. Dialogue and Facilitation

• Facilitate monthly dialogues through the Queer Lunch Series
• Actively present student organizations and classes on issues of gender and sexuality inclusion
• Serve as a facilitator for the Safe Zone program

F. Teamwork Environment

• Work in a collaborative environment with the assigned student intern
• Directly work in unison with the Graduate Safe Zone Coordinator
• Collaborate with the Director of Student Engagement to effectively advocate for the campus community
• Collaborate with LGBTQIA+ identified student organizations on behalf of IDEAL

These projects are designed to increase the visibility and support for interfaith life through an intersectional lens. The ideal incumbent for this role will have a holistic understanding of promoting inclusive spaces for students of different faiths.

A. Supervision of student intern

• Supervision of 2-3 interfaith inclusion undergraduate interns

B. Program Engagement

• Assist in implementing the recommendation from the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Anti-Semitism and University Responses
• Serve as a resource to faith-based student organizations

• Maintain interfaith Canvas group and files
• Create a repository of interfaith resources
• Manage all room reservations and catering for interfaith-focused events
• Compile semester reports and assessments on interfaith inclusion programming

D. Program Development

• Design curriculum for interfaith inclusive workshops
• Serve on campus-wide interfaith committees or groups
• Provide feedback on curriculum and program concepts created by interns

E. Dialogue and Facilitation

• Oversee interfaith dialogues
• Serve as a facilitator on social justice-themed workshops and programs around faith and identity

F. Teamwork Environment

• Collaborate with the Director of Student Engagement and other campus partners and student groups (Feinstein Center for American Jewish History, Muslim Student Association, Student Affairs, etc.) on campus-wide programming
• Attend area meetings and conduct individual sessions for supervisees​

Student Engagement and Belonging Externship for Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) has oversight of the Diversity Peer Educator program and is responsible for the collaboration on identity-based programming.

This role is responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of projects centered on diversity from beginning to end. These projects are designed to increase the visibility and support for inclusion and belonging through an intersectional lens. The ideal incumbent for this role will have a holistic understanding of promoting inclusive spaces for intercultural engagement.

A. Supervision of student Intern

• Supervision of 1-2 Senior Diversity Peer Educators and 9 to 11 volunteer Diversity Peer Educators

• Attend area meetings and host 1:1s for Senior Diversity Peer Educators

• Properly evaluate Diversity Peer Educators annually

B. Program Engagement

• Actively guide planning monthly Owl Talk dialogues with Diversity Peer Educators

A. Customer Service:

• Answering calls from internal departments and partners outside of Temple University
• Have advance communication skills when speaking and greeting campus partners (i.e. students, faculty, staff, community members, etc)

B. Team and project management:

• Complete deliveries and pickups from offices across the campus

• Abilitly to handle a high volume of emails and provide a quick response via the university's Remedy system
• Set-up and resetting office spaces for reservation of events and activites

C. Administrative:

The Marketing Internship for Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) assists the Marketing Graduate Extern in their effort to further develop Temple University’s Diversity portfolio by strategically executing the marketing requests of the IDEAL, Title IX, and EOC offices.

This role is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and executing projects from beginning to end, as well as working collaboratively among a student and professional staff collective. The ideal incumbent for this role will have an understanding of diversity and equity as well as how these intertwine with marketing efforts.

A. Social Media Management

• Plan and write content for social media content calendar
• Schedule Plannable, or equivalent, for social media pages (i.e Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)

IDEAL is looking for creative, motivated GAID students who can design collateral that will engage our target audience – promoting diversity and social justice education and programs on campus. This position gives experience with following an official style guide, adhering to trademark and logo rules, using a project management system, and even occasionally designing large-scale installations for events. The position is year-round, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, 15 hours/week. The starting rate for this internship is $13.00 per hour.
