The Marketing Graduate Externship for Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) supervises the marketing interns and graphic designers is the lead contributor to IDEAL’s social media and collaborate with marketing requests from IDEAL, Title IX, and EOC offices.

This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing projects from beginning to end as well as coordinating with student designers, committees, and departments. The ideal incumbent for this role will have an understanding of diversity and equity as well as how these intertwine with marketing efforts.

• A. Supervision of Interns
• Supervise the Marketing Interns - including hiring, training, workloads, schedules, and deadlines.
• Supervise the Graphic Design Interns - including hiring, training, workloads, schedules, and deadlines.

B. Project Management

• Complete assigned tasks with project management systems
• Assign tasks to marketing/ graphic designer interns
• Manage marketing requests in Microsoft Planner and Basecamp
• Monitor project process
• Create a marketing strategy for the IDEAL, EOC, and Title IX
• Oversight of large scale marketing (NCOW, Unity Week, etc)
• Compile a semesterly and annual report on all projects completed.

C. Marketing Inventory Management

• Ensure all marketing materials are packed up for other IDEAL staff to bring to events.

• Review returned items and take inventory after the event.
• Organize and maintain marketing storage areas.
• Keep accurate inventory of all marketing collateral and promotional items.

D. Social Media Responsibilities

• Devise Social Media strategy

• Schedule Hootsuite or equivalent for Facebook & Twitter
• Answer questions and respond to comments on Social Media
• Attend semesterly Social Media Managers Meeting
• Compile monthly Hootesuite or equivalent Analytics Reports
• Manage accounts Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Youtube.

F. Content Curation and Development

• Develop and maintain an editorial calendar for IDEALMarketing.

• Accumulate interesting articles.
• Write Buzzfeed articles, and utilize Use Temple’s modified APA style for writing.

The extern provides guidance and content for the following areas:

• Portfolio marketing and branding guidelines that compliment the university's style guide
• Social media and analytic reports
• Social media posts and articles

• Position onboarding
• Team member attends Fall and Spring diversity and inclusion training 
• Team member is or becomes Safe Zone certified

• Position totals 20 hours per week
• Paid $2,000 monthly

A. Customer Service:

• Answering calls from internal departments and partners outside of Temple University
• Have advance communication skills when speaking and greeting campus partners (i.e. students, faculty, staff, community members, etc)
• Answering questions received via office's email, telephone, in person, etc. 
• Troubleshoot and resolve general office issues
• Strong interpersonal skills via phone, face to face, and email along with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with a diverse polpulation of students, parents, staff anf faculty, and community. 

B. Team and project management:

• Complete deliveries and pickups from offices across the campus
• Tabling at events to market the office's profile
• Monitor the project manegement system for assigned tasks
• Promote office's programs, dialogues, and events
• Abilitly to handle a high volume of emails and provide a quick response via the university's Remedy system
• Set-up and resetting office spaces for reservation of events and activites

C. Administrative:

• Keep up to date on departmental regulations, policies, and procedures related to department activity
• Provide administrative support for professional team (i.e. special tasks and projects, phone calls, inventory)
• Perform varied, complex clerical functions requiring individual analysis
• Monitor and respond to emails in an effient timeframe
• Schedule workshops and building reservation
• Maintain office's Outlook calendar to ensure all programs, diaogues, and events are listed
• Effectively opening and closing of office spaces (i.e. unalarming building during the morning, swecuring building during the evening)

D. General Qualifications:

• Advanced knowledge in the performance of clerical functions, office practices and procedures, and operation of office equipment and machines, i.e. fax, copier, telephone and scanner. 
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse population in person and on the phone. 
• Must possess the ability to interpret, carry out and transmit general instructions and procedures. 
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills, along with the ability to multi-task. 
• Strong analytical skills  
• Adhere to FERPA regulations as they pertain to maintaining the security and confidentiality of all student records. 
• Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments and work in a high-paced environment in a professional manner.  
• Excellent documentation ability with a high level of detail.

The Gender and Sexuality Inclusion Internship for Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) supports the Graduate Extern for Gender and Sexuality Inclusion.

This support allows the an to assist with the overall programming on topics supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA+) community.

This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing projects from beginning to end to increase the visibility and support of the LGBTQIA+ community utilizing techniques of intersectionality. The ideal incumbent for this role will have an understanding of diversity and equity as well as how these intertwine with the LGBTQIA+ community.

The position is year-round, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, 15 hours/week. The starting rate for this internship is $9.00 per hour. 

A. Program Engagement

• Complete assigned tasks with project management systems
• Manage and facilitate any requests for LGBTQIA+ presentations and/or workshops
• Review and ensure that all marketing is inclusive towards areas of gender and sexuality
• Ensure website LGBTQIA+ content is consistently up to date
• Assist in providing semesterly and annual report on all programs and trainings completed.

B. Program Logistics Management

• Effectively track all numbers of attendance for program/dialogues hosted
• Organize and collect assessment for all workshops, presentations, and programs
• Keep accurate inventory of all supplies needed for programming
• Submit all programming requests via the project management system

C. Program Development

• Utilize best practices to recommend and create innovative programming opportunities
• Serve as a general member capacity with the National Coming Out Committee (NCOW)
• Assist with the overall planning for the annual Lavender Graduation ceremony
• Plan the OuTU event, held during welcome week on an annual basis

D. Dialogue and Facilitation

• Facilitate monthly dialogues through the Queer Lunch Series
• Actively present t student organizations and classes on issues of gender and sexuality inclusion
• Serve as a facilitator for the Safe Zone program

E. Teamwork Environment

• Work in a collaborative environment with the assigned student intern
• Directly work in unison with the Graduate Safe Zone Coordinator
• Collaborate with the Director of Student Engagement to effectively advocate for the campus community
• Collaborate with LGBTQIA+ identified student organizations on behalf of IDEAL

The Marketing Internship for Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) assists the Marketing Graduate Extern in their effort to further develop Temple University’s Diversity portfolio by strategically executing the marketing requests of the IDEAL, Title IX, and EOC offices.

This role is responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and executing projects from beginning to end, as well as working collaboratively among a student and professional staff collective. The ideal incumbent for this role will have an understanding of diversity and equity as well as how these intertwine with marketing efforts.

A. Social Media Management

• Plan and write content for social media content calendar
• Schedule Plannable, or equivalent, for social media pages (i.e Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
• Assist in scheduling events and programs on Facebook, OwlConnect, etc
• Monitor local and worldly news for potentially spontaneous content development
• Answer questions and respond to comments on from engagers
• Assist Graduate Extern in researching best practices in social media usage
• Assist in developing and presenting monthly social media statistics
• Monitor messages, retweets, reports received

B. Brand Promotion Responsibilities

• Ensure marketing materials are packed up for IDEAL staff to bring to events
• Attend tabling events (schedule permitting) taking place on or off campus
• Live post to social media throughout the duration of the tabling time
• Assist with the tracking of inventory items
• Assist in determining brand and merchandise utilized within the office

C. Administrative

• Complete, edit and check off assigned tasks within project management system (Basecamp)
• Respond to project check-ins within the project management system (Basecamp)
• Routinely check all project management systems

D. Training

• Complete, edit and check off assigned tasks within project management system (Basecamp)
• Respond to project check-ins within the project management system (Basecamp)
• Attend required Safe Zone certification and trainings as instructed by the office

E. Project Management

• Conceptualize themes, campaigns, and engagement activities for social media
• Assist in developing social media kits for large scale events

IDEAL is looking for creative, motivated GAID students who can design collateral that will engage our target audience – promoting diversity and social justice education and programs on campus. This position gives experience with following an official style guide, adhering to trademark and logo rules, using a project management system, and even occasionally designing large-scale installations for events. The position is year-round, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, 15 hours/week. The starting rate for this internship is $13.00 per hour.
