Living Learning Community

The Office of IDEAL’s Gender and Sexuality Inclusion Center, in conjunction with IDEAL’s Student Engagement unit, partners with University Housing and Residential Life to serve as an administrator of the Gender Inclusive Housing Living Learning Community in White Hall.

The GSI Center partners with the resident assistant to provide LLC members with intentional programming, community-building opportunities, tailored resources, and access to programs that foster belonging and identity development.

Through this partnership, students are also connected to broader first-year engagement opportunities, including the Inclusive Fellows Initiative, to help them build relationships, leadership skills, and a stronger sense of connection across campus.

The Office of IDEAL’s Gender and Sexuality Inclusion Center, in partnership with IDEAL’s Student Engagement Unit, provides a range of resources to support students in the Living Learning Community and promote gender and sexuality inclusion. Residents can utilize the Burrow lounge space in the Tuttleman Learning Center, Suite 100, as a drop-in environment, and will receive regular updates about upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.

During OuTu, held as part of Temple’s Weeks of Welcome, residents will have the opportunity to meet the IDEAL team and connect with peers. Residents also benefit from in-hall programming hosted by IDEAL, designed to build community, expand networks, and promote advocacy and visibility.

Rainbow Owl

Community Advocacy

When you see the rainbow owl labeled “Safe Zone,” it indicates that an individual has completed certification to better understand LGBTQIA+ fundamentals and support a sense of belonging. As a member of the Gender Inclusive Housing LLC, you will have the opportunity to participate in this training as a community.

This training helps build shared understanding and creates a more inclusive living environment. It also equips residents with the tools to support one another and respond to social injustices.
