Religious, Cultural and Federal Observances Dates

At Temple University, we recognize that religions are practiced in diverse ways.  We recognize that this list, despite being comprehensive, is not exhaustive.

We ask that you share any suggested updates or religious observances that you would like to see added on this calendar via the contact us form on this page.

Spirituality and faith can be important aspects of an individual’s identity and experience at Temple University.

Spirituality, faith, and cultural heritage are key aspects of many students' identities at Temple University. Instructors should consider various religious, cultural, and federal holidays when creating syllabi, and faculty should review the calendar when scheduling events.

Note that Muslim and Jewish holidays begin at sundown the evening before the listed dates. Faculty should offer reasonable alternatives for students who are unable to attend class or need flexibility around assignments due to observance of or commitments related to religious, cultural or federal holidays.

Please refer to the official university calendar for the list of holidays on which the university is closed or no classes are held.
