Marketing & Communications, Externship

Graduate Externship - Safe Zone Coordinator

The Graduate Safe Zone Coordinator is a graduate level hourly student position that oversees the office's LGBTQIA+ educational programming. The focus of this position will be direct oversight of the Safe Zone I and Safe Zone II certification curriculum. 

Graduate Safe Zone Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Direct supervision of the Safe Zone Intern,
  • Training and regular meetings with Safe Zone Facilitators,
  • Establishment and coordination of meetings with a Safe Zone Advisory committee, and
  • Planning, facilitating and implementing Safe Zone I and Safe Zone II training for students, staff, and faculty.

Remuneration 

This position is paid $13.00 per hour at 15-18 hours per week. This position DOES NOT include health benefits or tuition remission benefits.

Office Assistant (OAS)

IDEAL employs approximately 5-10 undergraduates or graduate students to assist the Administrative Specialist with day to day operations. 

OAs responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  1. Performance of clerical tasks such as answering phones, filing documents, running campus errands,
  2. Confirming reservations and checking office emails on a daily basis, and
  3. Assisting in setup for events, workshops, and activities.

Undergraduate Internship - Gender & Sexuality Inclusion 

The Undergraduate Internship for Gender & Sexuality Inclusion (GSI) is an undergraduate level role that assists the Graduate Extern with the planning of LGBTQIA+ programming.The successful candidate for this role can qualify for course credit once approved by a student's program.

GSI Intern responsibilities include, but not limited to

  1. Meeting regularly with the Extern to discuss programming,
  2. Assistance in the overall planning, facilitating and implementing LGBTQIA+ themed programming, as well as benchmarking peer institutions LGBTQIA+ programming, and
  3. Serving as an active member and coordinator for the National Coming Out Week Planning Committee.

Social Media & Marketing Intern  

The Social Media & Marketing Intern is an undergraduate or graduate student that oversees IDEAL’s social media and marketing. The successful candidate for this role can qualify for course credit once approved by a student's program. In this role, interns can expect to gain 10-15 experiential hours within a week.

Social Media & Marketing Intern responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Manage and provide direct oversight of all social media accounts,
  • Create social media and marketing plans as well as some content,
  • Schedule and post social media content on a timely basis,
  • Increase followers base on social media,
  • Review website content and provide feedback
  • Attend university Social Media Manager meetings, and
  • Collaborate with the Director for Student Engagement on marketing materials.
