Temple University's Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Linda Hasunuma as Director of Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships. A longtime member of the Temple community, Hasunuma brings more than two decades of experience advancing inclusive educational practices, fostering meaningful partnerships, and strengthening student, faculty, and staff engagement and belonging.

Throughout her career, Hasunuma has served as a political science professor and, most recently, as an educational developer at Temple's Center for the Advancement of Teaching. Her work has focused on inclusive teaching and mentoring, intercultural understanding, first-generation student success, mental health and wellness, and creating opportunities for constructive dialogue across diverse perspectives.

A dedicated advocate for community building and institutional collaboration, Hasunuma founded Temple's Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Faculty & Staff Affinity Group in 2021. In 2024, she co-edited a volume exploring the experiences of educational developers of color and helped launch a peer-reviewed, open-access journal focused on equity in educational development. These accomplishments reflect her longstanding commitment to strengthening inclusive cultures within higher education.

Linda has been a long time partner and friend to IDEAL, so we are very excited that she will be bringing her immeasurable talents to our team. As a bridge builder, convener, and collaborator, I could think of no one more perfect for this role."

Reflecting on her new role, Hasunuma emphasized her belief that Temple's diversity is its strength and expressed her enthusiasm for building upon existing relationships while creating new opportunities for collaboration.

"I look forward to connecting with you and seeing how we can work together to create the community and future we want at Temple," Hasunuma shared.
